The ESA gamma astronomy satellite dedicated to fine spectroscopy and imaging of hard X-ray and gamma-ray sources.
INTEGRAL, “INTErnational Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory”, is the ESA gamma astronomy satellite dedicated to fine spectroscopy and imaging of hard X-ray and gamma-ray sources.
The imager on board, IBIS (“Imager on Board INTEGRAL Satellite”), is a coded mask telescope which observes galactic and extragalactic sources.
Within the IBIS project, IASF-Palermo was responsible of the ground support equipment required during all the development phases and is presently responsible of the instrument operations, alongside developing the IBIS calibration plan.
